When removing a stain, it’s important to dab the affected area rather than rub or scrub it. In case of spills, use a paper towel or cloth to blot the liquid. Add some clean cold water sparingly to the spot to dilute the stain (or wet a paper towel or cloth) and blot. If the stain is persistent, try using a mild clear dishwashing detergent. Check to make sure there’s no citrus in your soap before using; this could bleach your rug.
