Its premium wool blend is space-dyed, adding even more visual texture to the yarn.

The Material

Sardinian wool, from the Sarda sheep of the island of Sardinia, is white, long, and warm, with a natural sheen. It's tough, too: sturdy, wiry, and waterproof. New Zealand wool is a premium wool beloved for its softness, shine, and long fibers. Like all wools, it has a hydrophobic layer which repels dust and dirt, as well as lanolin, which provides its trademark luster and protects the fiber from breaking or shedding. Both wools are mixed with 15% cotton for sturdiness, and handwoven onto a cotton foundation for further durability.

The Maker

Our partner has been weaving for 50 years, inheriting the business from his father. Some of the weavers have been there for that long, too. Devoted equally to treating workers well and developing quality product, they're also Good Weave certified, which guarantees high quality and trustworthiness across the board.

We recommend that you regularly vacuum your rug to remove dirt and grime. Depending on how heavily your rug is used, just once or twice a month is adequate. Too much vacuuming can wear down the knots and fibers more quickly. If you have a suction attachment on your vacuum cleaner, use that instead of a rotary vacuum.

Vacuum on low power with a non-rotary (no spinning brush) vacuum or suction attachment only.

Every few months, you'll also want to flip your rug over and vacuum the back to get the grit out of the foundation of the rug. It also helps to rotate your rug once a year to ensure even wear over time.

Every 3-5 years, we recommend getting your rug professionally hand-washed. Please do not take it to get steam or dry cleaned-this will almost certainly damage the rug! Hand-washing requires the use of a pH-balanced shampoo, worked into the rug by hand with a soft-bristled brush, before being rinsed thoroughly. This process should be repeated a few times.

Due to the hand-crafted nature of our rugs, you can expect to see light shedding, matting, and signs of fiber and thread breakage over time. For high traffic areas, these effects may occur more quickly and easily.

Spot cleaning instructions:

Lightly dampen a paper towel or cloth with clean water

Gently blot the affected area with your damp towel or cloth to dilute the stain

If the stain persists, try using an unscented, citrus-free, clear soap to avoid bleaching the textile.

Repeat this process until the stain is removed

From time to time you may spot tiny flecks of dried hay or grass woven within the fibers-traces of the grazing pastures where the sheep once roamed. These can be removed by hand or with tweezers.

Because this rug is made from natural wool rich in lanolin, it may release a subtle sheep-like scent when damp. It's simply the fiber's natural character, and it will disappear once dry.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1718/8557/products/1-AYUR10PEBGY9X12-1ove-wool-flatweave-rug-pebble.jpg?v=1667915132
